I had the best experience at this hair salon today. As a black client, it’s very hard to find hairdressers that are knowledgeable on the many different textures of afro hair, especially when trying out new salons! However, I knew I was in good hands from the moment I stepped in. Everyone has an input in this salon, and everyone is consulted on the direction of your hair. It’s also a great feeling to see the owner there as well. Although our cultures are different, the professionalism and honesty convinced me that I could break of my comfort zones of only trusting black hair stylists. Granted, I’m only speaking in terms of the Japanese Straightening treatment I got, only. Things to note: this amazing team recognizes the diversity of afro hair and can really understand what the best action for your hair type is. It can be very expensive! But I truly do believe that they know that you will not get a better treatment anywhere else, and they provide the ultimate care and attention to your hair. They are VERY gentle on edges and roots. Despite that, you can hardly tell the difference in care with the final results. Very beautiful! My hair is very fragile and thin, but after this treatment it feels softer and healthier after the straightening process. It moves, has shine and body and is generally gorgeous! Too good to be true. JAPANESE STRAIGHTENING BANG ON! I’ve had Japanese straightening done twice before coming to Momo’s. At least I thought I had. After being unhappy with the results (from two different salons in London, ON), I searched online for salons in Toronto. Momo popped up with great reviews, so I gave them a rang and booked an appointment. I was shocked they could get me in within four days! I was promptly greeted upon arrival. The salon was busy, as expected for a Saturday. Staff were so upbeat and happy. I was amazed at the friendliness of everyone. Not pretentious at all. I felt very relaxed. Claire, who did my treatment, assessed my hair, and explained how she would blend her work, into the poor work from previous treatments. I felt confident with my hair being in good hands. Four hours later, my hair was what I expected post-treatment. But I couldn’t write a review, until after I washed my hair (two days later). Because after the wash, I’d then be able to really see the magic Claire did (or possibly didn’t). So, today was wash day (and thus, review day). Wow, my hair has never felt this soft! I did a rough blow dry, and combed it as instructed. My hair is honestly pin straight (except for the garbage at my ends from previously, which I knew would happen). Hair looks incredibly shiny too. Once I chop off the crappy ends, my hair will be lovely thanks to Claire and her skills. I’m glad to have finally found a salon that can give me the quality of Japanese straightening I would expect. And, I don’t mind driving into Toronto for the day to get it done either if it means my hair is frizz-free from now on. Prices were VERY competitive, considering what I paid for the same treatment in London, with very poor results.
This place is where hair dreams come true, no joking! I have/had very curly frizzy long hair and came in for the Japanese Straightening treatment after seeing all the great reviews, I’ve been wanting to do this forever but have been putting it off because the whole permanent thing was a scary commitment. I booked my appointment and came in a week later, so excited!! As soon as I came in, I was warmly greeted and things got going, three people working on my hair!! Amazing scalp massage at the sink, appointment flew as I watched the staff expertly work their magic on my head, lol. At the beginning I was told to expect a 60% improvement due to my super curls, at the end I was blown away with the smooth sleek perfection on my head, the staff outdid themselves!! I wish I had done this years ago, thank you thank you thank you!!!!
I’ve been having my hair permanently straightened for 8 years, so I’ve probably had it done 10 times, mostly in Korea, and this is the best experience I’ve ever had. The salon is gorgeous, the staff are so friendly, and somehow the horrible chemical smell that normally happens with this treatment didn’t happen?! I have zero damage and perfect silky straight hair. They even told me not to have to hair straightened yet when I came in before my wedding to keep some volume on top, losing out on $300 revenue for sheer honesty. I hope this place is open forever!
Fantastic little salon, with amazing customer service. I had my roots done (hair straightening), and Liz did a fantastic job. All of the ladies working there were so friendly, and the atmosphere was really relaxing and comfortable. I’ve had this hair treatment done in salons in Vancouver, New York and London, England, and it’s always been much more expensive, yet much less enjoyable. Would DEFINITELY recommend this place, especially for those of you who want to get Japanese Hair Straightening!
If you’re looking for the best/great service, an expert hair specialist/stylish that you can trust on… Then, come and visit Momo hair salon. This is not a paid review. I am writing this base on my experience having my Japanese permanent hair straightening done in Momo Hair Salon. First, I booked my appointment through online (messenger). It was so easy, and they responded quickly. Then I came to the salon and right away they check my hair and told me the process to go through plus the payment. during the process, I saw how they take good care of their clients and when I had my hair shampoo, I honestly loved it! Claire had a super good hand in washing your hair and massaging your head. I felt so relax and felt so good. Long story short, after 3 hours the process was done and all I can say is “WOW”. They revived and straightened the kinky/curly roots of my hair. It so happened that I have my highlights and bleached hair, definitely a big challenge for them to do it but they assure me that they will do their best to make it straight without damaging the bleached hair. I was worried at first but putting my trust on their hands was all worth it! I love my hair now. It’s so shiny, straight and bouncy. Added to that, they’re on the top 3 best choice of google for best salon for Japanese Permanent Hair Straightening and Digital Perm in Ontario, Toronto Canada. Finally, Liz (the owner) is so sweet, kind and expert in dealing all types of hair of her clients. More so with the staff, they’re all smiling and very approachable. Amazing amazing amazing!! I had a Japanese Straight Perm done yesterday. The moment I walked in, everybody was very welcoming. They checked my hair and right there and then they told me how much its going to be basing on the texture and length of my hair. My hair was very dry so unfortunately, they had to re-do it again and I like the fact that they don’t blame it on my hair as being dry, instead they assured me that they are going to make it straight! I feel that they really take care of their clients. Liz was very professional and caring. The services are a little bit pricey but if you are getting excellent service, its worth it! I will definitely be coming back again and recommend it to my friends and family. They offered coffee and Korean noodle, my favourite!!!!

Absolutely amazing place and hair stylist ever. I just got my second hair done by Liz. I am so happy with my new ash brown hair colour. Liz is very professional and attentive, and she knows how to make people look stunning. Her magic touch has made my hair always looks awesome. My first experience was Japanese hair straight perm and it was unbelievably great, silky and straight of course. Scalp massage done by Claire is so great all the time. It was my first hair straightening in Canada and I chose Momo. Thanks for everyone who posted their genuine feedback. I have very thin hair and I am very careful when I have to use chemicals in my hair. But the service and experience of Momo’s staff just transformed my hair from frizzy to smooth shiny straight hair. Came here for the second time for Japanese hair straightening and even brought my sister. As the first time, my results were amazing, and I don’t even remember what putting effort into my hair feels like. Price seems high, but for the long-lasting results it’s definitely worth it. Staff is super friendly and hard working, even when they are very busy. Will keep coming back here for sure!

Overall, I think Momo is a great salon with talented stylists. I got a haircut which I really liked. I received useful advice from the staff about which style worked best with the form of my face. I also had a Japanese Perm done. The treatment didn’t come out right on the first try so they asked me to come back and fix it. I couldn’t post a review until after I washed my hair by myself. After seeing the results, I give this place 5 stars. My only complaint was the price for the treatment since I’ve gotten better deals in other salons. But in the end, I got amazing results and a good quality treatment. Totally worth it!
I got the Jap. straightening procedure for my hair, and I have to say that I absolutely LOVE It!! I used to have to straighten my hair 2-3 times a week, and now I can just shower and leave it. No blow drying, no straightening! it is AMAZING. I want to thank you and your staff for the great experience 🙂

Have just been to the salon. It was a great experience. I have decided again to try and do the straight perm and chose this place because the reviews were so good. It really was great. Nice staff, nice music and very good service. I will go there again about 2 weeks to color my hair before my vacation. This salon is going to be my place from now on. Excellent customer service. Liz and her crew were very friendly and helpful. They made me feel comfortable and welcomed. My Japanese perm wasn’t settling right, and my hair was going back to its natural state the next day. When I notified Liz, she urged me to come back to the salon where she took a look and was able to fix the problem free of charge – the issue was that my hair, for some reason, wasn’t taking the perm at first. 5 months later, it’s still looking great. I’ll be going back in a couple of months for a root perm. It was an overall great experience, thanks to Liz’s compassionate and understanding personality.
They are so amazing! This is pertaining to the Japanese Hair straightening: They are so good, they gave me a quote and looked at my hair and was honest about the possible outcomes. I have curly long and dry hair, and they let me know that the perm may not come out as nice due to the damage my hair had from constant straightening (my dry hair) and they let me know they can cut it but it will be a cost but to just do the perm and see, as I did not want to cut my HAIR AT ALL. So, we did the whole thing – washed and dried my hair and applied the necessary chemicals, and then 2.5 hours later it was AMAZING. Will definitely go back, and I recommend it if this is what you want! Also, they were so sweet 🙁 I messaged back in July and put it on hold, and they were willing to give me a real quote in person without any fee!!!

If only there was a 4.5-star option, I took off half a star because of how pricy it is. I found this salon via googling Japanese straight perm and this place was recommended. Although a bit pricy (I paid 450$+40$tip) its well worth it, my hair came down till mid back, took about 4 hrs for the whole process. Its been almost a month since I gotten my perm and it still looks great. I’ve had 2 Japanese perms at other places, although a lot cheaper, they did not last as long, or the process wasn’t as comfortable. I think this place would be great if you are welling to pay more for better results.
I had a Japanese Perm Straightening done to my dry, fluffy and frizzy hair and I absolutely love the results! My specialist Claire and her support team were very professional and friendly. I enjoyed the entire experience as a customer and, of course, the end results – as they are 100% true to my expectations. During consultation, I was actually told that after the perm probably only my roots will turn out shiny, and the remaining hair length will look dry – due to previous keratin treatment. However, to my pleasant surprise, my hair is shiny from roots to ends which makes me very happy 🙂 Thank you to everyone for the great teamwork and delivering your promises!
